Took the Vette to emissions for its second go-around after the mods; it failed earlier this year with HC *way* over the limit. After that, I had found that the hose on the AIR system to the cat had gotten a crimp, so I put a molded curved one in place. I also added a second PCV valve on the pass. side to try and eliminate some overpressure. Finally, and this may or may not have been needed but I REALLY wanted to pass, I dumped a bottle of 94% iso alcohol into 3/4 tank of gas.

This time, passed with flying colors. Not even close to the limits. Woohoo! Two more years of massive mods!

Congrats Rich. I know what it's like to sweat out an inspection. Mine is coming up in January and with this idle issue I'm getting concerned even though I passed last year by a wide margin as well. I sure would like a 2 year cycle instead of every year.......:ugh

You probably just got a different testing machine. ;)

Same lane, believe it or not...

Track times in the spring, after I spend the winter tuning with the PROMinator that should arrive any day. I did do a 13.71 @ 105.84 in 95-degree weather last June.

Yup, I am quite happy here... now just waiting for the Prominator to arrive so I can start dialing things in.

Found one problem with my custom prom - it thinks I'm driving an automatic! That'd make the ol' OD run oddly :).

Hmmmm.... :D

Congratulations, Rich.

Unfortunately, this is something that I'll have to deal with next year. Or maybe I won't...;)

But I don't think I'll have a problem since I'm going to do extensive work to it this winter. My plan is to have it running faster with better gas mileage and lower emissions. :D

Sounds like a good combo... let GM in on the secret when you figure it out :).

They already have with the Z06!:L:L:L

Indeed, a new, silver 'Z' blew past me (in my old 7er) yesterday. It sounded quite good!

Congrats, Rich. I know the relief, but may face all that uncertainty again if and when the 406 gets redone.

And you've got double the headache, being in California... good luck.
[RICHR]

By double headache, you mean that the inspection is visual and running the car on the rollers, right?

That would be such a pain!

Rich, why up so early on a Saturday morning?

I have a 5-year-old. Need I say more? :)

Double the headache because the CARB is so ridiculously picky.

Triple, with Arnold as the Governator.

You'd think a man who drives a Hummer would be less enviro-nut...

I have to smog mine next week.. I SHOOULD be Ok the last 2 times she passed with margin to spare.. the NICE THING in CA if you FAIL.. Arnold picks up 500.00 worth of repairs.. I took advantage of that on my 84 Bronco since the that car was on the " High output" emissions list.. where I'm sure the Vette qualifies for.

So Hi Ho it's off to smog I go
