Engine in 77 Vette

Does anyone know what CC the heads were on an L42 engine in 77. I want to repower and don't know what way to go. Crate engine or rebuild myself. Please give all advise or expertice you have.

cost wise...

I don't think you can beat a crate engine, it has a guarantee, too.

I've been very happy with mine that I purchased about 5 years ago.

A crate engine is probably easier, and similarly-priced to a decent rebuild (if not cheaper). Unless, of course, you want to go for something a bit out of the ordinary (like the 406 I'm planning on).
