I have been surfing the net for a few weeks and have noticed that a lot of C-3 vettes for sale have either had the engine rebuilt or replaced. My question is this:

Does an engine rebuild of the original motor de-value the car? If so, how much and why?

Also, does not having the original motor hurt the value?

Thanks!:confused

My opinion for what its worth if you are buying a Vette to drive a rebuilt or better yet more modern drivetrain would be the way to go. The later year C-3s were rather horsepower challenged in my opinion although the body lines are nicer. You will find a lot of Modified Vettes on this forum and people willing to help.
When you get your Vette look me up I am in Northwest Ohio.

Thanks for your input. The search is just beginning. I guess I'll know the one I want when I see it.
