I have a 1960 Corvette with the following Cast Stamps on the engine:

Hell Housing Stamp: 3756519
Flange Stamp: FIJ4D (i think that is what it looks like)
Passenger side below head

But I can find no information on this flange anywhere. Does anyone know where to find this or possibly I am seeing the flange information incorrectly?

It is curious that the normally two letter suffix is only one letter: "D", for powerglide, but without the second letter denoting the horsepower option. I have seen pictures of other stampings such as this, ending in a D, or in a C (manual transmission), without the followup letter denoting the horsepower (i.e. base motor, dual quads, fuel injection). Could these be stampings from passenger blocks?

Kevin, what type induction do you have, and what type of transmission?

"D" 1958-64 283,170 HP,2 barrel carb,PG trans, passenger car
