The wires on my 1986 run down on top of the valve covers in some kind of plastic chanel...There half melted and recked.....What was the original equipment?.....Any kind of after market product for these wire routings?....Thoughts?

The spark plug wires, from the factory, were run down the back of the engine block and under the exhaust manifolds. They were held in place by small retainers. They are also extremely difficult to re-route the same way when one changed plug wires. That explains the aftermarket looms you have I'll bet.

there are all kinds of aftermarket wire looms depending on how much you want to spend and how nice you want to make it look. browse a street rod mag. personally I buy the "universial" wires and take the shortest route to the dist and use the clips provided I have headers so it is easyier for me that way. If you do it yourself be sure to keep the #5 and #7 from running close together. I run the #7 down the back of the block and up to the plug from the back.

ps where in michigan are you I am in the NW corner of Ohio

I think that would be an expensive set of wires :L tried to post a cheap set but the batteries died in my FD adapter, tomorrow is another day

Gasp, that is some set-up you have there Ken.

Re: engine wires

The wires Im talking about are not plug wires but rather injector and others.....that run on top of the valve covers....

WoW!!!

Nice set up Ken, any chance of you listing all what you have done? It's a work of art.

Aha, I see now! In that case, it is original equipment and it does get a bit shabby, eh? I do not have any suggestions for a new method of routing. Sorry.

B17, see the ongoing project and details in my threads entitled "Ken's Engine Project." ;)

you can buy wire loom in most any auto-parts store it is split down the middle to allow you to put the wires in
