Erratic idle speed

irratic idle speed

my 87 seems to idle irratically and if I sit to long the service engine light will come on and will not go off until I move. Any Ideas on what this could be?

Make sure that the EGR valve is closing all the way at idle and also you may be in need of a new oxygen sensor.
