Hello, I own a 2003 Vette, and have had it for about 15 months. I changed the oil a week ago, and started the engine with the hood open fter adding new oil. I noticed that the engine seems to move and jump around a lot when initialy starting the engine. I never noticed this before, and I drive the car every single day for the past 15 months.
The movement can be felt while sitting in the car, and starting the engine also. once engine is running, it performs normaly.
Is this normal? I dont think it is normal for the engine to almost want to leap out of the car on start up, and shake around for a second or two. I took it to the dealer, thinking maybe a motor mount was either loose or damaged. The mechanic states that it is normal, after very briefly looking at the engine.
I am wondering if maybe the dealer ship is full of crap, telling me this with out even realy looking at or inspecting the car, because it is under warranty and if there was a problem it would be a pain in the butt to fix, and they would need to fix for free. They would not give me an appointment to do a thorough inspection. I have driven the car every day, and can say I never noticed this, so it does not seem normal to me.
One note on this dealer ship, I was in the body shop waiting to talk to some one about a job I was planning on getting done. I overheard the manager arguing with some one about how he does not like doing "warranty work", because the MFR does not pay much for warranty work.
Any way, can any of you other C5 owners tell me what is "normal" movement on your cars engine when starting it up? I think the dealership may be a bit biased in the opinion they gave me.
