I just purchased a '92 coupe with 10K on it and the engine compartment is very clean, but the exhaust manifolds are very rusty. I was wondering if anyone knows what I can do with them to clean them up and make them look better, without taking them off the car?

Markone, I know all the major parts suppliers, Corvette Central, Corvette American, Mid America, Ecklers sell an exhaust manifold "paint" refinisher that can be applied while the manifold is installed. I have not done it yet, its on my list. Of course it would be eaiser with the manifold off but that is a lot of work.

Thanks for the tip, there is also a manifod "dressing" made by Calyx that I had used in the past. I have been away from it so long I just wanted to see if anyone had recent experience. I'll be at Carlisle next weekend and see what's available there. Thanks for your reply.

You can bet that there'll be a bunch of vendors at Carlisle with the perfect solution to the rusty exhaust manifold problem. If you really want the manifolds to look like new, bite the bullet and remove them and have them bead blasted. There are coating that can kep them looking good with looking too painted. I had a local shop do this on my old '69 big block and they looked better than most of the car! It should be a lot less costly than putting on new parts, especially if you can do some of the work yourself. Good luck.
