The exhaust manifolds on my 64 look really (practically new) right now. I want to preserve this look if possible. Has anyone found a good coating that is up to the challenge and really lasts ?

The Eastwood's coating I put on my '66 manifolds over 10 years ago still looks good today. I plan to use it on my '59 as soon as I get a chance. Sand blast the manifolds, brush on the coating, install on the engine and run the motor to bake. Not NCRS correct though.

I use the POR 15 manifold dressing, and I'm very happy with it. Here's my LT-1 that I did in 1998:

I used the eastwood material on a few cars years ago and cooked it in the oven and the looked perfect ,I ran in to a mustang I had done in 1994/1995 and the exchaust looked as if it was just done.

I used eastwoods on my vette and did not cook it in the oven but put them on and cured them by running the motor. The car then went to be buffed out and when the car was buffed out they never taped off the opening in the hood or cover the motor anyways the water from wet sanding and the splatter from buffing it sprayed all over the motor. Needless to say the manifolds started to rust almost imediately.I am not sure if the problem was that I did not cure it in the oven or if the splatter and water ruined the finish? but this was the first time I ever had a problem with the exchaust manifold paint.

Good luck and it really makes a motor looked detailed when the exchaust are clean

I coated my LT-1 manifolds six years ago. They were sandblasted first. I have done about six sets of exhuast manifolds with that pint can of POR-15, and still have some left.
