exhaust manifold repair

Well I suppose a year of no problems had to come to an end sometime. Theres a small hole in the drivers side exhaust manifold behind the heat shield. A new manifold is 600.00. Which is about 599.00 too much for me right now.
I know headers are a cheaper way out and will improve performance but my question is can the hole be welded or repaired until I can come up with an alibie for not being in that bank when it was robbed so as to get the headers?

any good welding shop will be able to fix you up,might be a little tight getting it out of the car. Good luck ...i hate the sound of an exhaust leak!!

It IS a horrible sound...Thanks for the info

Email Mad Mic. He's got my old manifolds right now and if he's not going to use them then you're welcome to the driver's side. It's got some damage to the heat shield where I tried cutting a slot for clearance, but the manifold itself is sound.

I'm surprised you can't get a decent price from one of the salvage yards, though.

You're a life saver Rich....I can probably reuse the heat shield from my old one.

Thanks buddy...:w

Sorry Len i sold them for Rich and forgot to tell him about it! i think i got rid of them for 30 or 40 bucks as Rich just told me to get what i could for them as he didn't want them and had no room left in his house. the guy that bought them might still have the driver side as he only needed the passenger side.

as soon as i get in touch with them it's yours :)

now my bill is getting higher that i owe Rich....lol

not tight at all you can have it out with in a 1/2 hour or so. :D

Heh. Yeah. Mic and I did the driver's side manifold to header swap in under 30 minutes! Passenger side... TOTALLY different story :).

Len,

If Mic's option doesn't pan out, check out Jason: www.vette2vette.com

He'll hook you up; I just ordered a plenum and charcoal canister from him today.
