Exhaust manifold Replacement

I have to replace the left side exhaust manifold on my 76 L48 as it is cracked and leaking. I have seen some manifolds for sale for other year cars and my question is are the 76 manifolds unique in anyway or will a 75 through 80 exhaust manifold be an exact replacement? also is there any differance between a left and right side manifold or will either one fit on the left side (drivers)

here is what ecklers sells, looks like they are the same from 57 to 80, yes there is a diff. from left to right side

The ones I took off my 76 are different. I think it was the right side that had the little hole in the top for the heat tube on the carburetor choke. My right side is OK, the left has a crack just below where the tubes turn down. I run Hooker headers now. Anybody want to buy some cheap used exhaust manifolds?

Your right for some reason our cars though the same year are different, mine has no carburetor choke tube running down to the right (passenger side) exhaust manifold, On mine it runs from the choke down to the right side of the intake manifold, On left (drivers side) it has a cover over it with a flexible pipe about an inch thick that sends heat to the snorkel on the air cleaner. Its surprising that there is a differance like that.

It's entirely possible and probable the manifolds I had are not the originals. If that is the case, then it is only one of the many items that were changed by the previous owner. In that light, I never have intended my car to be a perfect restoration. To me it only has to look like a 76, but most assuredly it will stomp an original in a race.

Dunno about a 76 ... but some years have a boss on front of driver side exhaust manifold ... boss is used as part of alternator mount.
