Putting stainless steel exhaust tips on stock mufflers, is it like putting a dress on a pig? Or will it look alright? Anybody put the tips on their mufflers? Opinions apreciated, I'm on a budjet.

Info on car: 85 vette auto, no cat, obviosly need mufflers, but to pricey for me.

borla $520, dynomax $400, flowmasters $400, corsa $800, B&B $800, magna flow $550.

Tips $40?

When I replaced my mufflers I went with an after-market but stock looking and sounding system. I hadn't considered putting tips on them till the installer offered to weld chrome tips on for an additional $25 including the tips. For me I like the look. But I guess as always, everybody has their own opinion. I've had my mufflers for about 5 years now and I still get compliments on how they look.

It's all personal preference. But if you go with tips, I'd get them welded so there's no chance of them rattling.

I agree with Eric, if you want to do it, go ahead, but have them welded. :)

was a bit of a time to cut and reverse the stock muffler tips but it worked.
How much time do you spend cleaning your car? Once a day? Twice a day?
