Any help would be appreciated...
My 84 starts, idles/runs for 5 to 10 seconds and then quits. I cannot keep it going by pressing the accelerator. A few seconds later I can crank it and it runs/stops again.
I removed the air filter and noticed:
a. Spray is fine, but when it stops there is loud noise in the TBI and a ?puff? of smoke . Often, the smoke ignites.
b. When it stops, looking down into the chamber, there is about 1/8 inch of gas on the flap. The gas is clouded with a dark beige colour. There is just a fine layer of gas on the other flap. Iwonder if the gas is contaminated (but surely it would be same on both sides?). Tried TPF gas cleaner, no difference.
As you can imagine, cranking the engine runs down the battery after a while, so this problem is dragging on. Any clues or approaches to solve this would help me a lot.
