In searching thru e-bay for literature for my car's library, I find Factory Service Manuals and Factory Overhaul Manuals. Which would be of the most help, and is there enough difference in the information to buy
both of them? I already have the AIM, and a bunch of restoration guides and some weekend project books. Thanks

Hi VMO, I wish I knew the answer to that question too! I had a set of GM manuals that the original owner of my 72 ordered when he ordered the car. It was a set of five books. On the covers, under the title of each book it said: " GM Factory Service Manual 1972 Nova, Chevelle, Impalla, Corvette " it said that on every book except the book devoted to " 1972 Corvette Body & Interrior Assembly". The other three volumes were devoted to trouble shooting, rebuilding, removal & installiation of motors/trannys/rears/suspensions/brakes & components of those systems. Another book was "1972 Corvette Wiring & Vacume Systems", it had all the vac & wiring for the whole car. The one thing I can say is that on the bill of sale from the dealership the manuals were listed as "1972 Factory Service Manual Set". I always thought that was it except for the factory assembly manuals. Tom

I would go ahead and get the Factory Service Manual and the Factory Overhaul Manual. The overhaul manual deals with much greater detail on the complete overhaul of some of the major parts. It is a great reference even if you do not plan on doing that type of work. I have them for my '73. In fact bought two sets. One very nice set for indoors use in the study. One oil smudged for use in the garage :)

The Service Manual is for adjusting and repairing small things, carb, distributor, alignment, electrical, etc. The Overhaul Manual is for the big repairs, engine, steering gearbox, differential etc. ALL Corvette owners should have the Service Manual. The Overhaul is a nice one but not as essential.

Get both...you can never have too much information
