Factory side pipes on 80 Shark

OK....I put a set of factory side pipes on my 80 Vette and I am not happy. I had them coated by JetHot. They look great but I am having issues with the fiberglass covers. They do not fit well. We have modified an old set of rocket panel moldings to mount them too but it looks loke crap. Also, I am afraid that they might rob the car of HP when I install my 383 stroker. IF I need to change does anyone have some thoughts or ideas. This is really starting to frustrate me.
