I wanted some input from the pros. I know the subject of restamping a motor is sensitive to some people. What I am really interested here is the value for the following car, not if restamping is right or wrong.
The car:
1971 LT1 coupe documented as an LT1 by the tank sticker.
- factory options include: power sterring, alarm, M21 Trans.
- the body has never been hit, the chrome is excellent, the paint is also very nice. However, the car is not the original color - it has been repainted a different color
- the interior is in excellent condition and needs nothing
- the suspension is freshly rebuilt
- the engine, transmission and engine coponents are not original to the car but are all correct in terms of date codes, casting #'s, etc.
- the engine has been re-stamped to match the VIN - the seller openly admits this and has not tried to hide this fact. He has simply tried to restore and duplicate the car to the best of his ability and he has done an excellent job - one of the best I have seen.
-the engine compartment is highly detailed and looks brand new
-the motor is freshly rebuilt with all of the correct LT1 engine internals (cam, lifters, heads, intake, etc.)
In summary, while not a show car, the car is in perfect mechanical shape, the body is very nice and the car needs nothing to enjoy and drive. The main question marks, as I see it, are the non-original paint color and the non-original, but correct, re-stamped motor.
With that said, my question is:
1) WHAT IS THE VALUE OF THIS CAR AS I HAVE DECRIBED IT?
Thank you for your input.
