I want to alert everyone to a fake 1965 Fuel Injected Corvette advertised on at least two Corvette internet sites. It is a restored black/blue leather optioned car. I was considering a purchase from the former owner who informed me it had a replacement block and had been converted to an FI car by them. I did a brief owner history search and confirmed that it was not an original FI car. The previous owner and I are both attempting to contact the current owner about the misleading ad and I have contacted two of the internet sites where it is listed.

I have been an NCRS member since the 70's and after 8 years away from Corvettes have been searching for another. This is at least the second advertised fuel injected matching number car that I have found to be a fake. Incidently, the previous owner wanted offers near $37,000 and the asking price in just a couple of weeks of the new owner is now $59,900. Due to the high prices in the current market, greed and dishonesty abound. Always try to track the ownership history to avoid being duped.

Thanks for the efforts Richard! Hopefully you'll help save someone from a mistake! :)

Welcome to our forum

Rich I dont want to seem out of place hear but the original ebay sale never mentioned it was NOT a fuely.I dont know if the original seller is doing a sour grapes here because the other seller now may have stamped the motor and is making a home run if he sells the car at the asking price

Dont mean to offend you but who is he trying to protect? it now comes out that it wasnt a fuely when he owned it?

IH2Lose is correct about the ebay ad. It was placed after I first saw the Corvette for sale on another site. The owner did not say it was not original on either, but did readily supply the name of a the former owner who told me the car was originally not an FI. When I asked, they said they did the conversion and if it had been matching number original, they would ask much more. Maybe if I had asked them first , they would have told me. I don't know for sure. It does not seem like sour grapes. If they were really trying to hide its history, they would not have given me the name of an owner who would tell me the car originally had a carburetor. But, I appreciate your view. Thanks.
