So is there a source other than the local Chevy dealership for the various screws, nuts and bolts that hold the C4 together? I'd love to have a couple dozen of everything for all those times when I come up short one quick clip, screw, etc.

I live in Florida and we have Sunshine Ace hardware store. They have a collection of screws nut bolts in differents sizes in chrome and stainless steel.I don't know if this is what your looking for but your vette looks black in the picture and this sure would look good on your car!:beer

So is there a source.....?

Howdy neighbor!
Okay - I admit I'm going off topic here but I have to compliment you on your rims! :cool!: I love that style rim on Vettes... C4s and C5s! Do you have any other pix you can post?!

Are those BBS rims or another maker?

Anyway - just wanted to explore the question of rims and tell you I think your C4 looks awesome.

Look for a place called "Fastenal"...thats a chain store that has everything nuts bolts screws..etc., and if they don;t, they will order it and have it there next day...even if it's a single bolt.

Excellent resource boomdriver! Amazing, I've never heard of this company and they have three outlets right here in my town.

I guess that would bring me to the question of how to identify the size/description of a particular bolt or fastner (i.e. 5/8-11 x 2-1/2"). I suppose I'll take a handfull of example pieces with me and see if they can just match them right there in the store. Hopefully so.

I'll also recheck the dealership as well to see how the prices compare. Thanks. :cool!:

Try these guys.

McMaster-Carr#

I also like the wheel tire combo I only wish I could afford a set one day when my wife and kid let me LOL.

Tat is one smoking vette!:cool!::beer
What he said!

Thanks for the additional photos and link! Great pix! I recognize a piece of Bayou Country in the background! Nice!!!

Seems Jane has a thing for wheels! :chuckle

Which is why I have taken so many pics for her to view. Now where is that other??

Any rubbing problems with those 18"ers? Nice look!

Fastenal has a lot of hardware, not as much for automotive as McMaster. I've gotten more from Hillco http://www.hillcofasteners.com/default.aspx than either of the above, but then, I can drive over with a part in hand to compare.

Another source that I know of, thats ph or internet order, is Metric-MultiStandard Corp...in Dallas, I think. If its metric, they have it. Metric bolts to metric butter knives...
They used to have a BIG catalog (LA ph book thick) they'd send you but I think they quit doing that for everyone except acct holders...

These rims just grab my attention. They look excellent on Rome's C4 and I think they'd look equally so on a RED C5. :_rock I also like something with a silver/chrome lip and black centers, which again I think would look particularly well on a dark red Vette.

But... I'm in a holding pattern for now because I'm trying to decide whether or not to trade up my 98.

So... fasteners - right, fasteners! Sorry for the temporary thread hijack.

Carry on.
;)

I wanted to see how big of a wheel/tire combo I could get and still fit inside of the stock wheel wells of the C4 without having to tub out the rear end, or add any kind of external body extensions. THe primary modification was ditching the big "dog bone" trailing arms in favor of the much slimmer Exotic Muscle (EM) heim-jointed adjustable trailing arms and sway bar links. I then had a friend of mine fabricate a new set of trailing arm brackets that were about half as wide as the stock brackets, thanks to the heim-joint ends on the EM arms. The last point of contact was the square-shaped brake line bracket, and I was able to grind off the extra material and round off this little piece to eliminate the contact. I also raised the plastic wheel well liner an inch or so by modifying it to sit on top of the mounting bolts located on the back wall of the well. It's a real tight fit, but now there are no rubbing issues under normal driving conditions, hard turning, acceleration, etc.
