I need to access the horn mechanism in the steering wheel of my '94.
When I compress the "left" part of the steering wheel, the horn will not operate. :confused The right side side is fine. Anyone know how the cover comes off the steering wheel? Thanks

Take the button that you push on the left side to activate the horn and carefully pry it off with a small screw driver. Be careful because there are two contacts that can fall out. They just lay in a cavity one above the other. with these pieces in place push on them to see if the horn works. If yes then look at the back of the horn button you pried off and you will see two plastic tips that when the button is pressed pushed on the brass contacts. Either the brass contacts had lost some of there spring or the tips had worn down. In either case I got some small plastic hose or you can use dry wall screw plugs. Just slide them over the tips and cut them to be a little bit longer than the post. This is a trial and error process until you get it right. Put the button back in place ans try the horn. If it works fine if not then pull the fuses from the fuse block for the air bag. There are two of them. and use a star driver to remove the two screws holding the air bag on the steering wheel. Gently support it without removing the yellow wires. Now look at the black wire from the left horn button to see if it has a bare spot on it. From my experience with my horn I would bet you will not have to do anything but extend the above mentioned contact post. Just remember the age of the plastic parts you will be removing and that time has made them brittle so be patient and don't force them.
