I thought I should post this and possibly show my ingnorance in the hope that it may help someone else save themselves alot of time. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting any air flow out of my top vents when the fan was on. I also couldn't get the highest speed of the fan to come on. I first attacked the high fan speed; I purchased a new relay, which is mounted on the firewall above the condenser, from my local O'reilly auto parts which they had in stock. I took all of the connectors apart and sanded all of the connections. Any where there was an electrical connection in the area of the fan motor or wires going to or from, I cleaned the connection. I don't know if it was the new relay or the cleaning of the connectors but the high speed now works great. I then decided to attack the lack of air out of the vents. I took of the dash cover on the passengers side and was going to take a look at the controls on top of the heater core box and see if I crimped a vaccume line or something when I changed the heater core a few months ago. When I took the dash pad off (this is the one with the pockets in it) I decided to take it to my work bench and clean it all up. I got to looking and noticed that the pull lever that I thought openned the fresh air vent, actually controls a butterfly vent inside the duct. Guess what? It was closed and so was the one on the drivers side. I was really starting to feel stupid now. I started checking the center vent (above in instruntment bezel) and found that there is a control (under the vent toward the drivers side) that opens and closes this vent. And yes, it was closed too. I put everything back together and turned the a/c on with the high speed and the air flow was great. It is nice when you can fix something and it does not cost a fortune.
