Hi all,

I Need some advice. The rear fender lip of my 72 has some deep gouges and groove scratches -one is about a 1/8" deep -the others are just swiped gouges. Seems the previous owner backed into his tool box.

The damage is not severe enough to do a fiber patch mixed resin approach -what i need is a small amount of filler.

Can I use the tube bondo for this? (WalMart)

Or do they make a jelled resin in a tube that I can fill in the grooves. NO structural damage or cracks -just gouges.

Thanks for your time :)

Do it the right way.................either Tiger Hair or Kitty Hair. It is the best way to fill it in. It is also a Fiberglass base.

What is tiger hair and or Kitty hair -never heard of it?

thanks :)

Tiger Hair & Kitty Hair is like Bondo......but it has Fiberglass in it, and is a Fiberglass Base. When you use it, just make shure you do not put it on thick. It hardens to like Steel. Comes in a can that looks like a Bondo can.

I used a two part Epoxy. It is called Loctite Aquamarine Epoxy. I bought it at the local Home Depot. It work great, was easy to apply, dried quickly, and was easily sandable, and paintable. I had 2 bad spots, one where the Tee top pin was left out when the previous owner replaced a top, the other was a split at the front of the drivers door. You can not tell where the patch was done, even if i showed it to you.
