Folks,
I'm looking for a recommendation on Fiberglass fillers for areas such as panel seams and general filling. Ultimately, it seems that those seams show up through the paint. The factory seams were no different. So why does this happen? I suspect its because the filler that is used expands and contracts at a different rate than the fiberglass. So it would seem to be extremely important to pick a filler that matches the rate of the glass.
I have been looking at the Evercoat products but I have not been able to decide among them. I have emailed Evercoat a few times and never got a reply
Of there many fillers I have tended to lean towards there new Short strand filler Glasslite. However, there is no mention of the expansion contraction or it being specifically for FRP.
They have another product called Vette Panel Adhesive/Filler and they say "specially designed to mimic the same degree of expansion and contraction of SMC" I have no idea how SMC compares to FRP in this regard.
Here is their brochure: Evercoat Fillers
I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has heard from Evercoat or found specific information as to which of there products is best suited for FRP. Or anyone who knows of another product specifically for the purpose.
Thanks,

I've used Evercoat before. Pretty good stuff.

...i use dynaglass

..here's a link -> http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/product/01006475/

...yup, taxidermy....couldn't believe it, they use it for taxidermy

...i'm using the dynaglass right now on a composite bb hood (a sb hood which had an old after-market bb stinger grafted to it).....looks like the hood is a '63 or '64 with the panel cutouts, the perimeter of those panels opened up and i filled them with dynaglass...it will hold like iron, even as a thin coat....

i've also used dynaglass as a pure adhesive to bond steel to fiberglass....i moved the hood strut from one side to another because i added a different bb hood to the '65 and had to attach the hood to the sb strut....i slit the side of the hood, drilled the correct holes on the bottom of the hood and cut/drilled a flat piece of steel stock to act as a not plate.....roughed up one side of the plate, covered it with dynaglass and dropped the plate into the correct location inside the hood.....'glassed over the slit on the side, looks perfect and the bond has held for over five years...

....i love the stuff

I think I may have used dyna-glass on my last project the can looks familiar but I got mine from a local Mom and Pop auto parts store. There are some newer bonding agents that hold much better then the old stuff but they are pricey
