Home Sweet Home

Jerry,

Great pictures - must be nice to finally have her sitting in the right garage. What needs to be done? The car looks terrific.

The pictures are a bit deceiving. The paint is gone on the T-Tops and rear deck. The guy that painted it in '95 did a really poor job. The clearcoat is peeling off on the deck, and the paint literaly peeled of the the T-Tops in several places. Also the frame is badly rotted on the end of both frame rails. So off comes the body. Already got another frame thats in excellent condition. Also need to go through the motor, although I'm seriously considering a ZZ4, and I just happen to know where a '72, 454 and TH400 are setting. Decisions, Decisions!!! By the way, this car has over 200,000 miles on it.

finally

if you go with the zz4, how would a 700 r-4 work? that is what I am looking at when the time comes.:Steer

hi, looks great from the pics, i would however lose the bra..they have a habit of disscoloring the paint etc other than that it looks terrific....sherry:_rock

Originally, I only put the bra on the car for long road trips to protect paint on the nose from getting chipped and the 6 million or so bugs that always seemed to want to do the kamakazee thing on the front of the car. After the car was bumped into in a parking, which cracked the bumper cover, I just left it on to cover the damage. The bumper cover has deteriated to the point now that when I remove the bra, it will probably fall of in pieces. If you look at the picture closely, you can see a piece missing next to the center grille.

Now with the fun part :), great to have another 73'er around, I used a true flex front bumper, it worked well for me.

Gary, I've heard a couple of horror stories about getting the true flex bumpers to line up with the front fenders correctly and that they're harder to work with than the fiberglass bumper covers. But then again I know a couple of bodymen that say trueflex is the way to go. How hard was yours to fit up?

One More Picture. This is an example off where NOT to put your foot when helping unload a car! I kept telling him to be careful.............!!!!!!!!!!!

Good looking 73 looks just like mine. with the exception I have the oxblood red interior. I also noticed you have the center grill too. Mine came with it too. If you would like I can send you a couple of pics of my car dont know how to post them here on the forum.

Good Luck on your project.

Just remember: Skin grows back, paint doesn't!

Congratulations Jerry,

New garage, and the Vette now home! Looks like you have plenty of room to work on the Vette. Now the fun starts! I am doing a frame-off right now, and am enjoying it. I miss driving the Vette, but I know the best is still to come. Be sure to take plenty of pics during your frame-off, and share some of them with us!

Jerry,
I found the true flex vs the fiberglass to be the opposite, the fiberglass donesn't bend, making it harder to line up the mounting hardware. Good luck with restoring, and remenber to take it one step at a time. The process can easy become overwheming.

Jerry,
Welcome to the wonderful world of the 73 Corvette. She looks good but I know you will have her even better before too long. Keep us up to date :upthumbs
