hello, this one has got me ! the #6 spark plug wire on my 81 is burning or melting? at the plug end ,the car did not seam to be overheating , I replaced the wire and it did it again ! Just the #6 others are fine. I have had the car since 1993 runs good 103000 on it no other real problems anybody have any Ideas on what could cause this?:W

I'm guessing it's the wire and not the boot, it's melting not burning, and I'm guessing it is coming in contact with the exhaust manifold.

:)

its seams that it is the boot and not the wire and is no closer to the exhaust than before. shields are still in place.everything looks normal except for the melted part.
thanks for responding

# 6 wire is one of the wires that has a heat shield that runs along side the block,to the under side of the block, and then back up to the plug.
I have found it's a PIA to change, because of this!
perhaps you are routing it wrong????

burnt boot

wire is a pia but has been ok since 1993 trying to send picture
