Hey all! I posted a while back about my experience at the drag strip, but I didn't have my slips with me... anyway, here are the numbers... just wanted to see if anyone could provide some insight for me. What kind of ET do you think I could expect given the times I ran at the speeds I trapped at. There was indeed a big difference between how I ran my first run and how I ran my second run, and I'll share those details after I hear some feedback.... :)

r/t= .636
60'= 2.018
330= 5.562
1/8= 8.510 @ 83.06MPH
1000= 11.082
1/4= 13.299@101.08

second run:

r/t= .803
60'= 2.482
330= 6.294
1/8= 9.299@81.68
1000= 11.898
1/4= 14.134@99.38

This may be a stupid question, but R/T does not have an effect on the other numbers correct?

I know it helps in a race (fast jump, the better advantage), but I thought the clock starts running when you leave the line?

Reaction time has no bearing on the ET. The timer does not start until you roll out of the staging beam. 60' time will have a large effect on your ET and a small effect on your MPH. I'd expect you to trap at a much higher speed with your SNAT. Something closer to 108-110mph.

Well, a couple of things... first, yes, r/t was admittedly poor. I distinctly remember watching the bottom light turn green, and by the time I looked ahead at the track, I saw the back of the car beside me. :)

Second, I KNOW for sure I got lotsa lotsa tire spin. Especially on the second run, with ASR deactivated. The adreneline was pumping too hard. :)

Third, hitting the shifts was not an issue, because it is an automatic. However, this might also account for slightly slower times?

I know Callaway's site claims times around 12.7@114 or so. Now, I have a SNAT 400, and perhaps these were more for the SNAT 450s or so. They did say, however, that the LT5 based engine was even better, so I know the times claimed were for the LT1.

In any case, it was fun. I might try to get out once this fall and see if I can make any improvements.

i was expecting at least 11s

12.4 was typical of the SNAT 400 / 425 cars :beer

Glad to hear you took yours to the track :upthumbs

I have generally left upon seeing the last yellow light - I can cut a very good light that way - Although that does not make the car faster by leaving early) it set me up in my mind to (hopefully) stay ahead of the guy beside me ;)

Definately turn ASR OFF - When Mike Zoner drove our SNAT this Summer, I noticed he NEVER had it on :Steer
Car will run much slower with it active...

w/ respect to an automatic - They can be very consistent -Youcan adjust the t.v. cable for more precise shifts - What RPM is it shifting at???

Callaway Cars may have updates for your ECM or other suggestions

If I recall, your car already has headers????

What gear ratio does it have?????

Hope this helps :beer

RT {reaction time} is how close you came to a RED light. Nothing to do with down the track performance.:cool

I'll have to watch and see what RPM it shifts at. And... a little help... what is the t.v. cable? :)

*89x2* Callaway Cars may have updates for your ECM or other suggestions
Just contact Joanne for this said:

Yep, new headers, new transmission (unless a tranny upgrade was part of Callaway's package?) And the gear ratio is 3.73

t.v. cable adjusts shifts on an automatic - there is a process to adjusting it and if not right, can add to a "slouchy" shift...

Just contact Joanne for this, do you think? ...

You would want to discuss upgrades w/ Mike Vendetto or Jim Jones on this - Joanne can point you in the right direction and is very knowlegable on the products too :)

Hope this helps :m

Cool, maybe I'll try to contact them this week sometime!

The t.v cable on the 700r4 is a direct link to the tranny pump. As the throttle is opened the cable is pulled further out increasing pump pressure. If the pressure is not correct not only will you feel a slugish shift, but the clutches and or band will eventually fail.

Was the 700r4 a Callaway install, or GM?

My research (5 min on a Yahoo search) seems to suggest that the TV cable should be pulled fully out at full throttle. Does this sound right?? I'll probably bring it in to be looked at rather than doing it myself, but its always good to know what should be going on!
