'03 Millenium Yellow Convertible
Just spent the first weekend with my new Millenium Yellow 03 convertible ... what a ride! As some of you may have read from my post last week, I had some reservations about the color, suffice it say, they're gone! Will post pics in coming days.

Now the big question for me is whether to use it daily for commuting to the office, roughly 15 miles each way, or keep my current commuter car and save the vette for weekends and especially nice days. Curious to hear how many of you drive your vettes everyday?

Also, I need to go out and buy some cleaning supplies. What works best and is safe for the body, interiors, etc. I've used Armor All safe for dash and other vinyle/rubber/plastic surfaces, is the the finish of choice? What do you use for as a washing and drying towels?

Thanks, I look forward to your responses!:cool :cool

Only 30 miles a day!!!! I would drive it to work, 30 miles a day is nothing!! Just enjoy it and don't worry about it.

I drive my vette every day I can, which in OK that's is almost all the time. Some people don't want to drive them daily to keep the mileage down. I believe that you only live once; that doesn't mean to be dumb with your life but rather enjoy it...and I enjoy it everytime I fire those cylinders up! There is one particular wax that I put on my vette that lasts several years and is awesome. Check out www.toughguard.com for more info.

I say drive it!!

As far as cleaning supplies...I use a real chamois to get most of the water off my car after washing. Then I follow-up with a soft towel to finish. Make sure to wash the towel before you use it to make it softer and get most of the lint out of it. To wash my car I use one of those wool wash mitts. It works pretty well.

As for waxing, I would suggest using cloth diapers to buff the wax. They are about the softest thing going.

I use Armor All on my interior except for the seats and steering wheel. Made the mistake of putting Armor All on a steering wheel once. Only once!

My 'vette is the only car that I own, so I have to drive it every day. It is a sacrifice, but somebody has to do it!

I would advise you to keep it out of the automated car washes. I got some damage to the paint in my previous 'vette, and I believe that it was the car wash that did it. I also put a bra on it if I am taking a road trip of much length. There are different opinions about bras, but I use mine on the highway, but not around town.

I have never liked Armor All because it is too glossy and the glare from the dashboard shows up like a heads up display on my windshield.

Drive your Corvette and enjoy it.

Hand Wash only with good product intended for car washing (ie: no dishwashing stuff)

drive the car when ever you can (weather permitting), that's what i try to do.

as far as washing etc...check out the care and detailing section of this site. there's some fantastic information there.

Drive it!

I drive mine to work every day - my commute is about the same as yours, and driving the Vette makes it really enjoyable! I do have a covered parking space, but I would probably still drive it if I didn't.

I have recently bought some 3M products at NAPA and am really liking them. A little expensive, but so far I have been impressed with the quality...

Congratulations on your new Vette!

First weekend with my Vette

Thanks to all who responded to my post ... after driving it the last week to work I am leaning on dumping the other car and driving my vette everyday. My only reservation is driving it during bad weather, I'd like to preserve as best I can.

I'll be checking out the detail section for more tips on washing and waxing ... sounds like 3M and Mothers have excellent products. Had not heard about diapers before.

Thanks again ...

Excellent choice!

Congrats to your vette! So you did go for the millenium yellow.
Personally, I don't take my babe to work, because people here aren't so careful when opening their doors....

Enjoy your ride! Post a picture of it if you can, and dont't forget to save the :w

Congrats on the new ride, I`d love a vert maybe for my next one. I`m surprised no one has mentioned Zaino, the stuff works well. But be certain to get something on that pretty paint. I use the Zaino stuff and when drying car after washing I use an electric leafblower and dab up any drops with an all cotton towel, quick easy and reduced risk of scratching finish. Break it in right you`ll be surprised at the dividends it will pay when you get upwards of 5000 miles on it. Seems to get stronger every day.
Enjoy and wave

www.zaino.com All you need for your new baby!:pat

I agree although if you can find a local distributor you can get a hands on demonstration of what Zaino can do & you can purchase the products that you'll need.

My vette was never a daily driver. She's been a cruiser & we've taken her on some long trips down to FL & up to Maine. She does well in the rain & even the snow although I don't take her out if its raining, if its raining on a trip there aren't any leaks & she holds the road.

Whatever you decide to do... enjoy her!

I say drive her to work everyday. It can sure make a long rough day at work much better driving the Vette' home! It gives you something to look forward to while most see commuting as a PITA.

Drive her everyday and enjoy. During bad weather you can either CarPool with an SVU or keep somekind of klunker around to drive.

Drive that thing!!!! It's a great driver. If you're like me...I didn't pay near 50K for "garage decoration"

:Steer Drive it like you stole it !;) But not in foul weather.:nono :beer And don't forget to:w

I drive my C5 when ever possible, it actually makes me fell better about everything... About the washing. I am one of the lazy owners, I get the Vette detailed ever two months:D then enjoy the rest of the time when I :Steer . Good luck:pat .

Congrats on the new vette weekend

We have the same problems how to take great care of the new vettes so I guess it will be Trial and Error. So Drive, I will drive when my wife is not looking.
