Since I live in a very hot area, I was considering installing dual 210 Flex-a-Lite electric fans. Has anyone out there installed these on a 77 or so vette? Has it helped? Was it a pain or a "pleasure" to install?
Thanks

I have those fans on my car and I have no problems in the Dallas summers. I also have a Griffen aluminum radiator and a Stewart stage 1 water pump. All of this was installed with my engine so I can't really comment as to the fan's performance by it self. I do know that this combo has made it through two summers of being daily driven without any problems.

Also, I don't have A/C, so that may be a consideration as well.

I bought the fans used and received only the fans. I had tried one of those probe sensors that go through the radiator, but didn't have any luck with it. I eventually found a 1/2" NPT sensor with an adjustable "on" temp and it works great, even thought it was quite pricey at about $40.

I have the 210's--I installed them with 4 HD springs that clip to the radiator channel. I have a 355/350HP engine with a/c. The electric fans work great in spring/winter/fall with a/c on. However, in summer, with the a/c on, it gets quite hot. What I do is in the summer, I put a 14" plastic radiator fan where the old fan/clutch used to be. That bit of extra air flow makes the difference.

If it were not for the big difference in performance (there is), quieter operation, room aplenty without the shroud, and 3mpg increase on the highway, I'd go back to the origianl fan/clutch/shroud.

i have them installed also and they work great i have the adjustable thermostat on mine and i can set it at any temp.

i'd never go back to a clutch fan set up. I have a 4 core rad, with the fans. Nice and cool.

The biggest gain is the ease of working on the front of the motor. Not having a fan shroud makes any radiator/heater hose, water pump or belt replacement a breeze. Not to mention, it just looks cleaner.

ease of installiation is about 2 on a 1-10 scale. The hardest part for me was the removal of the shroud. The set came with plastic holders taht went thru the radiator. The only other issue is electricity. mine had an auxilallary fan before, so i just connected into those wires. You'll have to find some current, but that shouldn't be too hard.
