38 cmf when adding the airfoil? hmm, it looks like TPIS was close when they claimed a 40 cfm improvement.

it also proves that I can't feel a 40 cfm difference

Where is the bottle neck on the L98 ? intake or exhaust?
If it is the exhaust nothing you do to the intake will help much.

Both.

improving either will result in noticable gains but improving both is the best choice.
