I recently had one of my Fog lamps go out on me. Having seen many posts over the past couple years on CAC regarding this, I searched here before doing anything else. I have to be honest, I wasn't excited about the 'ordeal' that was awaiting me. Next, I checked the service manual. It, like many posts, talked about removing the bumper to get at the lights. Then I noticed a very small paragraph "Changing Lamps". It basically just said raise the hood and change the lamps. That got me looking much harder. Sure enough, tucked behind what I believe is a plastic splash guard, there was my lamp. Long story short (too late, I know), I had both my fog lamps replaced (and upgraded to 885's), in about 10 minutes. No pullin the bumper, no tiny hole underneath. Everything works fine and the upgraded 885's are sweet!

Try setting a land speed record changing the rear tail lights now. ;)

Been there, done that already! Fortunately, I have a very understanding and helpfull bride who was willing to get in there and do the tail lights!:L

You think the bulbs are bad? Try doing the clutch! I'm not sure what they were thinking when they were in the design stages for these cars. They were definatly not thinking of the guy that had to fix the car. GOOD thing they are fun to drive!

Now just run a seperate ground for each foglamp and they'll stay on when you use your brights offering enough lighting for a small cessna to land by..:)

No problem Whale. I did mine two weekends ago and it sure is nice to be able to see and be seen......

$30....Done. Almost dark, here; then time to cherish the expenditure's extra lumens (100-something vs 42, is it?).

The existing circuitry is okay with the doubled wattage?

I needed a success today after fighting the (replacement for HP) wife's laptop wars; a collosal waste of time, dammit Bill Gates' XP!

Added later: Seems a fair bit brighter, but more downwardly aimed. Short run, but no issue, yet, with the circuit

With the 885 ,which is 50 watt verses the 880 which is 27 watts, Is there any concern about heat on the lenses?
Also is there an even higher wattage that would work if the lenses don't melt ? I often drive at dusk and it would be nice to be able to have just the fog lamps on without the headlights out, catching air.
BTW the foglamps on a 90 will come on when you turn the park lights on. My 90 has a pushbotton switch for the fog lamps. I will have to check the manul and see how those are wired. Maybe grounded with the parklights instead of the headlights?

probably like all the C-4's.....grounded through the high beam filament. The foglights are supposed to come on when the parking lights are in use unless you use the switch to turn them off. It's when you use the high beams that the fogs go off.........unless wired as mentioned above.
