Fogging Windows

I have a 99 Coupe and the one little perk I have is, clean windows, in and out. I have tried ALL types of commercial cleaners, Windex, Sparkle, Zaino Bros., etc. When it is all said and done the interior windows still look somewhat foggy and smeared. At night when the street lights or oncoming traffic comes at you it is much more prevalent. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to leave the interior glass "sparkling clean"?

well not exactly but...

Make sure you don't put anything on them such as wax, RainX etc. etc.

I found that once the RainX or Wax wears off... your windows look foggy until you reapply.

Perhaps you have some chemical on them. The window cleaners at gas stations often have all kinds of dirt and oil in them. (i've seen people wash their whole car with those!)

Maybe something like rubbing alcohol to strip the bad chemical?

I use plain old Windex to clean mine and a LOT of paper towels.

Actually it is a very talked about subject. The C5's seem to have this foggy window problem. Some of it's caused by using Armorall on the dash. Sun on Armorall causes gassing. Some say that the vinyl dash itself is off-gassing.

Doesn't seem to be a fix. I recently went to a Vette show in West Yellowstone, Montana. As we were cleaning our cars from the trip i noticed every C5 I looked at had some fogging.

I use a product called "Clearview" I can't remember off hand who makes it, it's one of the big manufacturers, but I get it at Pep Boys. For the interior windshield I apply the cleaner to a clean cotton towel (wet it good) and wipe it down more than once. Then a final rub down with a dry towel. The best results I've had so far. On the other glass I spray it on direct, wipe it down real good and finish with another towel. No streaks or smears if done right. The off gassing is another problem altogether, but this will clean it nice.

Fogging windows seem to be a constant complaint no matter what cleaner/cloth you use. I've heard the fogginess can be exacerbated by using an ArmorAll type product on the dash, giving off some sort of gas?? Not sure if that's true.

I use Invisible Glass by Stoner and wipe the windows with microfiber towels, turning frequently. I think the combination is the best. I use 303 Aerospace Protectant on the dash now and don't have too much fogging of the windows, but then again I'm always cleaning them!!:L

My mother...

...always made my sis and I use newspapers (b/w, no color print)to clean the windows of the house, wouldn't this work well also for the vehicles?

Newspaper works great for non-streaking but won't help cut or prevent the fogging. Any good aerosol glass cleaner with ammonia will cut the film - and I have never had it bother a tint job. It is the vinyl giving off fumes that fogs the windows in newer cars. As long as it smells new it's going to fog the windshield. I have used shaving cream on my bathroom mirrors but I have not tried it in the car. Someone told my wife to clean the mirror and then rub the shaving cream into/onto the surface. I suppose if you put the shaving cream on your rag, cleaned the glass with that and then rubbed the streaks out with a dry towel it would have the same effect. It's not permanent but it worked in the bathroom for a couple of months. I'll probably try this next time I wipe down my view screen...just an idea.
