Re:

Hi Barry,

Thanks for checking in- Unfortunately, the only update I have to report is that I got a set of sill plates in the mail for it. I have been working on my Chevelle non-stop in order to get it ready for paint, and have now run into an unforseen obstacle. Every shop I have taken the car to has estimated between 3 and 4 thousand dollars to paint the car. As a result, I am now completely thrown. I wanted to jump into working on the '59 while the Chevelle was at the shop, and now have no clue what to do.

Thanks for asking,

Jim

i know 3-4K is a bunch of money but for a decent paint job it really doesn't sound too unreasonable.

is the Chevelle all put back together where the shop has to have labor to remove trim parts or are you sending the car in without the trim?

What kind of job are you looking for and I can check with my paint guy on Mon for you. He is the one who is going to redo the hood on my '65 from when it blisters at a show in the spring.
He mostly onlt works on Vettes but i'll ask if he would do a Chevelle. He is EXCELLENT at painting but he is a bit on the slow side so not a great guy to send a job to if you are really in a rush. On the other hand, if speed is not a huge factor everyone says his prices are very reasonable - more so than they really should be but he is really into the business for his love of it rather than making any money. One look at his shop tells you that!
LOL

Cool shop though. Each time i've been there i'm amazed. It's like walking into a time machine. Approx 7 or 8 vettes there at any given time. Most are C1's, than a C2 and a C3 plus a '56 T-Bird. Currently most of the cars are torn down to the bare body and frame only as they are going through complete frame-offs or complete frame-on's.

Let me know if you want me to contact him for you or give you his number and address if you want to check him out yourself.

Re:

Barry,

Many thanks on the offer to help. The Chevelle is driveable, and I have all of the trim and bumpers off of it. I wouldn't mind so much if he took his time, as long as I'm not getting killed on the price. The car needs to be filled, blocked, and shot w/paint. I'm just looking for a plain old acrylic enamel finish as well, no 2 or 3 stage special application job. It's a driver- I just want it one color! :D Feel free to ask him on Mon and see what he has to say. You can also tell him that I'm working on the '59, and it will need paint as well as my dad's '76 Stingray....

Thanks again,

Jim
