i removed the entitre interior of my 75 as part of the rebuild. i took my dash apart and had a real hard time getting everything out in such a tight place, now as i am getting ready to re-assemble, it looks like i can put the gauges in the drivers lower panel and install it before i re-install the dashtop. is this right?cause it would save a lot of grief.
let me know if this can be done.thank you in advance, mike

That's what I did on my '76. I removed mine by starting on the lower passenger side, middle console, then dash, then driver side. I put it back together in reverse.
Good luck !!!

so there should be no problems in installing the speedo, tach, and light switch together in the panel, then put it in, and install the dash top? that would be too easy...mike

That is what I did. I removed/repaired/replaced my speedo, replaced the speakers under the dash and then fixed the clock in my instrument cluster. I would assume your 75 is close to my 76/77.

Mike , i know it's difficult to believe, but yes Chevy did make something fairly simple to do! also, by putting on the pad last, you can get to the speedo/tach bulb (moderately)easy in case any of them pop loose in install. check the lights a couple of times while doing the refit.they tend to pop out after 20 yrs.

been there,done that....alot

should be identical, that sounds good as i can't wait to drive her.thanks,mike.

once i sat it in place last night i checked the lights, one was out. first i forgot the speedo cable, and then i forgot the rubber tubes on the light switch.
looks good to see the interior getting back in. i also feel cooler when i sit in the car pretending i'm finished it and driving in town.maybe someday i'll really be able to after almost two years.
at least with the paint and windshield on it is looking like a car now.mike

Mike, I know how you feel about sitting in an unfinished car and "driving" down the road!

My '81 has been sitting for about 3 yrs and I just started really getting into rebuilding it. It's now sitting on jackstands with no motor, no front suspension and a dissassembled rear end. Needless to say I won't be driving it around over the weekend...at least not this weekend.

Keep up the good fight, these things were built to drive.
