This is weird. The front yoke and U-joint of my driveshaft are wet with trans fluid with a small drip. But, the rear trans seal is dry! Is there an internal seal or way of trans fluid to transfer through the yoke toward the u-joint? This is really weird. Par for the course on a 25 year old C4.
Thanks, Don

Get the driveshaft out and closely inspect the inside of the trans yoke. Check to see if there is a hole in it. If there is, ATF is migrating down the output shaft splines into the interior of the yoke and out the back.

I'm not an automatic expert but, if that's happening perhaps splines or yoke are worn?

Check the fluid level and make sure the trans is not overfull.

That's what I was thinking Hib. I was going to pull the d'shaft and stand it vertical and put ATF in the yoke and see if it drips out the end. Plus, there is a local driveshaft shop and I was going to have them take a look at it and since the d'shaft is out I might as well put another seal in the tailshaft housing too, to be sure. I have the exhaust off now so "now" would be the time to do it.

Thanks a bunch, Don.
