I just had my 86 coupe at the shop getting my wheels balanced and wanted them to check on a noise or a "clunk" that is coming from the passenger side front wheel. The mechanic checked the front end and everything was tight and yes he does here the noise. So i left the shop with an idea that maybe it could be the rubber bushings around the front leaf spring.Has any 1 out there in vette land changed those rubbers,,,,,and is it a hard job to do ?

thanks

If you're speaking of the rubbers mounts where the front spring attaches to the frame, it's not a big deal. I removed mine when I lowered the car. The rack doesn't have to come our for that, but removing the rack IS a PITA.

You might spend more time on tracing the sound before proceeding, though. Note the movement of the sheel when the noise occurs. Is it a rearward bump, a vertical one, etc. then find a great front end guy or three and get input.

Hey guys thanks---friday i had a friend help me with trying to find the noise,,,with the hood up and me driving back and forth over a bump ,we found it.Turned out to be the bracket that the front sway bar is attached to,, was just loose and flexing when it hit a bump.COULD NEVER HAVE FOUND IT WITHOUT HELP.
