Hello all!

Finally got my car back....and i just bought a $400.00 digital camera. I will be taking some clear pictures of the repair and will be posting them....sorry about the low quality pictures posted in the past.

Now... my 98 Corvette has developed a shaking when i drive above 60mph....the stearing wheel also shakes... I have had a 4 wheel alignment and still get the shakes.

I have ZR-1 rims, 9inch in the front and 11inch in the back.. I have new goodyear sc tires.

I also installed Koni shocks.

Can anyone offer some advice?

Sounds like the hub bearings. I had the same problem. After I changed the hubs out the shaking was gone.

Check before replacement ( front bearings)

Jack the front of the car up ( chocking rear wheels & using jackstands for backup) Grab the front wheel at the 12 & 6 O clock positions.

Push the top of the wheel in( twds engine ) while pulling the bottom out twds you... do you feel any play?

These style bearings have NO adjustment.

If it's like 1/32 of an inch your OK... more than 1/4 inch... replace the hub bearing.

If you have time... do the rear's as well.

If the play is good ( no shake ) then it's a rebalance of the tires ( High speed )

Did you tell the alignment shop about the vibration? If they did the alignment you should feel confident that the steering and suspension are in good condition. Usually steering wheel shake is a wheel balance problem. If it is not a worn out sloppy wheel bearing causing the vibration than have the wheels rebalanced.

This may sound stupid but make sure you dont have a piece of crap like a steel bolt in one of the front tires causing the out of balance condition. That has happened to me before.
