Front End Shake

Howdy folks.

My 94 coupe has a front end shake that starts at 75 mph. Had wheels balanced, new shocks, checked air in tires and still no change. Tires look good, very little wear, no cupping, even wear.

Local shop wants me to pawn my wife and kids for a complete suspension rebuild. Doesn't sound right to me as it drives very well under 75, turns and dips included.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, and maybe if anyone knows a good Vette mechanic around San Antonio, TX.

i got a 94 with the same problem. i had all 4 tires balanced on that hunter gsp 7000 machine. did not make the situation any better. so my next thought was to get an alignment. i noticed the car was pulling to the right anyway so i did it. made all the difference in the world.

I had a similar problem on my 96 and it was a combination of things. I brought it in under warranty and they discovered a problem with the steering rack so it got completely rebuilt under the warranty. Not bad for 100 bucks!

I still had the shake so I had the alignment checked and it was fine. Finally the Hunter 9700 discovered that one of my new Nittos was bad and would never balance into spec. the regular balance machines said they were perfect but the Hunter 9700 said otherwise. 1 new tire later and all was fine.

If you haven't had them checked on the 9700 find one in your area and have them checked. The machine applies roadforce to the tire and also measures rim runout.

Get someone relly ggod with vette's to do an alignment...you'll be glad you did....
