This is my first day here. I was adjusting the roof anchors, and ran into a problem. My friend removed the front anchor parts, and he forgot how they go together. There are two plastic parts, a small plastic tube with a sheet metal split insert. I printed the adjusting instructions but it didn't show a diagram showing the pats i mentioned. I hope someone can describe how this goes together.

That insert snaps into the mounting bracket hole before the windshield header trim is installed so the bolt can't fall out when the top is off!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

Thanks junkie.
We are confused at what the purpose of the metal steel tube. When you tighten screw, does the screw head go into the plastic tube, and the metal tube stop the screw from tightening too much?

I figured out the problem with the front bolts, but the problem I'm trying to solve is still there. I have a terrible rattle in the roof when I'm on a rough rode. I think it might be caused by wear on the rear roof anchors. Is that a common problem?

For heavens sake don't over tighten fasteners. You could strip them out and then you really have a problem. I suspect that the weatherstripping has become crushed and no longer provides any tension to keep the top from touching the body. You might try to shim around the top to see if that is the problem. For a temporary shim just fold some rags or use a Peace of rope to lay along the weather stripping and then put the top on. If the rattle is gone then you know what is causing it.:welcome
