Our 04 had about 100 miles on it when we bought it (new) and supposedly the car was at several car shows for Chevrolet according to the dealer hence the 100 miles on it. The brakes started squeaking pretty quickly after we got it and and now after a year we are getting a pulsating at slow speeds when braking. I wonder now if my car was ever at the GM Test Track deal but have no idea how to find out. I wouldn't think they'd send a vert to a test track show.

Anyway, can the rotors on the C5 be turned? If they can then I will do it and put new pads on the front and brake them in correctly. Are oem pads the best or what should I go with?

Why not take it back and have the dealer handle it? I would think that would be under the original warranty.

Hi Ncbosshoss -

As GS Diva points out, you might have a warranty claim regarding the warped rotor, and yes, they can be turned if within spec.

I suspect improper torqueing of the lugnuts on one or more corners as being the cause of the problem, not so much that the car may have been track driven.

There is a GM TSB regarding customers complaints of brake pedal pulsating - and they will likely resurface your rotors for you if you bring it to their attention.

I have found that my C5's will start squealing when I let the brake dust build-up accumulate. I can usually get them to quiet down by simply spraying them off good at the pressure wash.

Our 99 exhibits the warped rotor syndrome, and I have tentatively decided on the GM powerslots and stock pads.

best regards -
