Help! front trans seal

:confused can you change the front trans seal with out taking the whole tranny apart

Automatic? Yes. You can replace the front seal without having to drop the trans. The GM Chassis and Service manual will show the process; possibly ditto for the Chilton and Haynes tune up guides. A seal pull tool is not a have-to, but it's a handy little widget to have.

I'm sorry, but the above is not correct.

You may not have to fully disassemble the transmission to replace the seal but you must "drop the trans"---as in remove the transmission from the vehicle---to change the seal.

I defer to Hib. He is correct. My bad. Disassembly not required to replace the front seal, but you will have to be able to get to it.
