Fuel filter

Changed it out last night. Just curious - is it wise to put some teflon tape around the threads on installation? There wasn't any on the nut when I pulled the old filter. Ran her for about 5 -10 minutes with the new filter and no leaks. I know this may sound like a dumb ?, but years ago, I lost my 71 Firebird to a gas leak. Don't want to experience that again.

Thanks.

I could be wrong but I don't think that teflon tape will stand up to gasoline without breaking down. Therefor no sense in using on gas related items. I would think a sealer is made to withstand the properties of gas if necessary.

They should use a compression fitting so no sealer would be needed.
