I know this may seem out of place....please move it, mods, if it is in the wrong spot.
I was looking around for info on engine building...I plan on building up the engine on whatever vette i get, 65% motivated for power, the rest for economy. (and maybe some more for 'cool')
Looking up BSFC led me to this site:
http://www.grapeaperacing.com/GrapeApeRacing/tech/fuelinjectors.cfm
Where they figure out what size fuel injectors you need to support a certain HP. Makes sense on paper, because you need a certain amount of fuel for a certain amount of power given a certain efficiency, yada, yada.
My question relates to the fact that it seems their calculations are based on 100% on fuel injectors. Ie, if you figure you want 10 hp with a BSFC of .5, you need 5lbs/hour, so for a v8, you need .625# injectors.
Am i missing somethign here? It appears that the injector would need to be on through the power and exhaust stroke, which doesnt make any sense to me.
And while I have your attentions, because I know nothing beyond my 'theoretical' stuff, anyone suggest abook to read so i can get read for this build?
thanks

Tom,

GrapeApe has a good site. Generally, most GM EFI ECMs will go static on the inectors in PE mode if the LV8 tables are programmed that way. Most factory tables arean't except for the ARAP programming that was shipped with a few test cars. I've got the *.bin file if you're into programming the ECM yourself.
