Hey guys, long time no talk. Summer is finally over here in Ohio and I am back at the computer. Would someone please tell me the standard fuel pressure produced by a stock mechanical fuel pump at idle? Is there a min. requirement. I have heard 15 lbs but this seems like alot. I am running a holley duel intake vac. sec. Thanks for being here for guys like me. peace :cool

Hmm...I do remember reading that the QJet can work on as little as 3 PSI. But what it should be now, I'm not sure. I'm sure somebody will chime in with an answer.

Most mechanical pumps are around 6 lbs, any thing over 7 and the needle and seat may blow and flooding may occur.

According to what I have read most mech fuel pumps are 7.5 to 8 psi. Edelbrock makes a special one for their performer carb that is set at 6psi.

My stock pump puts out 4 PSI at idle and 5 PSI by 1000 RPM according to my pressure gage.

Thanks for the input. I have one of those small summitt gauges installed on the fuel line and it reads between 3-5 lbs. I just wasn't sure if it was accurate or not. The guy who told me 15 lbs. is a nitros head, who knows what he is thinking? It never stops amazing me how helpful and smart our members are. peace :cool
