fuel pump in tank

Simplifies plumbing and reduces assembly line time.

With well over 1,000,000 miles on vehicles with in tank pumps and no problems, I like them.

One of the reasons for the fuel pump in tank for fuel injection is to provide a reservoir of fuel under cornering acceleration and braking which is accomplished with baffles in the fuel tank or a "can" around the pump which serves the same purpose as the fuel bowls on a carb.
fuel injection is run at higher pressure then a carb sometimes as high as 45 lbs for EFI or TPI and requires different lines and clamps, filters etc and a return line (which can be normal low pressure stuff) to the tank.
There are other ways to provide for this reserve of fuel, but they require a additional "reservoir" and plumbing and a second fuel pump.
here is a view of a in tank pump install on a 72 tank for my TPI setup

it is basically a "can" with a partial slot to allow fuel in while the "can" keeps the pump inlet full of fuel at lower tank levels.
Hope I do not confuse anyone

On that subject, here's my set-up (note the fuel pump on the bottom of the surge tank):

Neet set-up with that setup you can run low pressure to the surge tank and only need short High pressure lines. Are you running an aftermarket fuel cell?
