my old fuel pump relay burnt out..it was the orginal 14 years old. so i put a new fuel pump relay on. it worked fine for a day. then the car wouldnt start. so i jumped the relay, car started, i plugged the relay back in and now the bloody thing runs fine and starts evry time. anybody got a clue why this would happen?:confused

It is very possible to have gotten a bad relay when you went to replace the original.

Or the relay socket is.....

1) Corroded from heat /years.

2) The actual pins in the socket have loosened up a bit making contact difficult.

And it's usually a combination between the two.
