I am having trouble getting full throttle. I am running an Edelbrock RPM intake with a Speed Demon 750 vac sec. I can't seem to adjust the linkage to get it to return to idle properly and get full throttle. It seems like the arm that comes up the back of the engine from the gas pedal is not long enough with the high rise intake. The car was origonally a 300hp. I think the arm from the pedal up to the adjustable rod to the carb is too short for the intake height. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

Would it be a problem to replace the stock original with a LOKAR cable set up?

Or is it just making a longer arm out of some 1/4 or smaller threaded rod

You know I havent been working on my 66 in a while but isnt the arm that comes out of the firewall adjustable ?

I know when I was doing my 62 I used a small spot of nail polish to show me the throttles full idel posistion and its full throttle position and maked it on the carb this way I could see it was throwing both ways correctly.

I'll see if I can get a picture.
I already bought some SS 1/4" round stock to make a longer rod. I will have to also have to lengthen the arm.

I thought the arms may come in different lengths due to intake height differences. Are they? There are different ones based on part numbers in the aftermarket catalogs.

A 1965 used a 3844175 lever arm for the 250 and 300 small blocks and a 3869750 for the L79 and solid lifter small blocks and the big block 396. I would assume that the 3869750 is longer. The old parts book doesn't give lengths.

A longer arm. That's what I was thinking. I will check with a local shop. Maybe they know for sure. Thanks

I found a 350 hp throttle arm. It is longer and has less of a forward bend than mine but still not quite like I want it. I modified the arm I have and should finish it tomorrow. I think it will solve my problem. Thanks for the suggestions.
