I see photos of garage floors that are done in black and white tiles. What is the tile product used? How well does it stand up with vehicle weight and traffic on it? I would like to do my garage floor in black and white check but don't know what is being used. Any ideas or information?;shrug

I painted mine with 2 part epoxy paint. What I did was roller paint the entire floor with the white. Let that cure for 7 days, then I taped off for the black squares 2ft x 2 ft. Then I roller painted the black with 2 part epoxy. Let that cure for 14 days before moving things back into the garage. The 2 part epoxy is so hard that I use floor jacks, jack stands, cutting torch and welding without it showing much wear. It was alot of work, but I am very pleased with the results!

I recently got a catalog from a company (I can't remember the name and the catalog is on my desk at work) that has all sorts of awesome stuff for the garage.

They sell tiles that they claim are the best for the garage floor. Strong, resistant to stains and damage from chemicals, etc. Of course they are getting a ton of money for them.

I'll try to follow this up with the correct information for the company.

I really wanted the black and white tile when I finshed the garage last Fall. I first was going to go with the gray paint, I even bought it. I then returned the paint and I bought the Armstrong commercial grade floor tile. My garage cement floor is less than 5 years old and all I had to do was empty it and swept the floor well. I used about 2 gallons of the cement and the wife and I spent a Sunday. It turned out great and looks fantastic. I have just over $200 total invested for a 20x20 area and it cleans/mops up just fine. I have only had it down for about 6 months but have had no problems at all. I have a dozen extra tiles and some cement for any future problems, but so far it is everything I wanted. I will post some pictures soon, after all is done.

The company I referred to above is Griot's Garage.

They sell some awesome looking black and white tiles for $14.99 a square foot (ouch!).

They've also got a whole bunch of other "dream garage" items.

Enjoy!
