Some of you know I want to build a garage in the parking lot of my studio (commercial property). I started plans in January and have had to hire an architect and an engineer . . . for a friggin' GARAGE!

Anyway, as of now, we're dealing with notes from the city plan-checker. One issue is a telephone pole at the back border. Looks like I'm gonna have to have it moved. Cost? I'm afraid to find out (though after last weeks post, I'm probably not getting a lot of sympathy!) If it can't be moved, we're back to the drawing board. What a can of worms! :crazy

I'm going out of town for a week, incidently, so my response to any replies will be a little delayed! Just wanted to give the update.

Who is responsible for a pole on your property?

Departmant of Water and Power. L.A. code says you have to stay 5 feet away from any poles and 10 feet from any electrical wires. This means I'd have to have the back of the garage 10 feet from the back of the property line, which won't work for several reasons.

So I'm hoping to move it, but it's an actively used power pole. My contractor says DWP is usually pretty friendly and sometimes does work like this at no charge. They're coming to my site in a couple weeks. Hopefully the guy will be a car guy, because my Vette is right there, exactly as in my signature picture. I'm hoping that will break the ice.

i built my shop in sandy ut city planers said sandy will like bevery hills [not even close more like Orange county] so had to make beautiful but then historic district got involved so 2000.00
later i got to build and looks no difference than i wanted just
cost to jump thorough their hoops so they could justify their job
