Ok, So I saw spring somewhere and it reminded me that the final part to re-install from my gas tank swap is the lid and ring.

Problem (ok, more of an annoyance but still):

There's no spring to hold the lid up when I fill. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement, and how does it get hooked up?

Thanks,

Dave

I had the same issue on my 74 L-48. The spring had fallen off and fell into the tank. It doesn't look like a normal spring, and it just snaps into place via (2) tabs on either end. Here's a picture of it.

I just recently replaced mine and it was very easy to do. I purchased it from Zip Products and it took me about 15 minutes to install. You must remove the gas lid assembly from the car, and open the lid as far as it will go and then just slide in the spring. when you close the door you will feel the tension on it and you'll that it's in right. Next open the lid to it's normal postion, drop it back into the hole on the rear deck and bolt it back in. :D
