The center gauge console has two screws that go into the dash....well these have stripped-out on mine and so the screws just fall out.

The dash is made of foam, and was wondering what others have done to repair this area so that the screws actually screw-in and provide some support for the center console? I have not tried anything yet as I have not had any good ideas to even try.

I thought they went thru a u clip made for the screws:confused:

A U clip...well now maybe that is the problem & solution in one! When I got the car and was doing all the restoration, there were no U clips at this location....time for me to get the assembly manual out to see if it shows this.

Not sure how thick the dash is at these points....it was a LONG time ago that I had this apart...but if U clips will fit there, then that is the "fix" as well.

Thanks so much.

I have the gauges out of the dash now and does not appear to be able to take a U clip....pretty thick in this area, about 3/8" or so. I could find nothing in the assembly manual either.

So back to asking for assistance; is it just the foam that the screws are supposed to go into or is there some type of nut plate?

???????

I'll look in the aim when I get home
Seems to me that there is a way to fasten or screw them into.
