GEN Light is Always On

1978 Corvette

Gen light is always on. The console guage does not work.

Checked volts from battery 14.5 to 14.7 as car is running.

Starts perfect and runs just fine.

What could be the cause of the light staying on?

Does your generator light come on with the key in the "ignition on" position (not accessories), and engine not running?

No it does not come on with the key in the "ignition on" position, just before I would engage the starter.

I got part of it done.

The connection behind the center console was partially disconnected with some of the connector tabs bent. Straightened them out and reconnected solidly.

Gen light now is on when ignition key is in the on position.

Now I have Oil Pressure Guage, Volt Meter, and Fuel guage working.

Water Temp guage is pinned to the high side.

Gen light is still on and low fuel light is always on.

And of course, the clock is not working.
